About the Owner
Hunter Crooks
Being raised in Florida in the digital age, I grew up spending most days outdoors admiring nature while also watching technological advances in amazement. These fascinations extended to photography and videography as I explored topics like travel and computer science.
My passion would peak as I pursued projects such as taking a trip to get a picture just right or producing a video discussing a software program I like.
This passion followed me into college as I acquired a BA from FSU in Humanities. My three selected focuses being in communication, digital media, and film. After college, I continued photography and videography through an internship with a small simulation business eventually becoming the Senior Marketing Manager.
However, in my new role, I found myself planning and directing more. I was juggling budgets, running websites, prioritizing campaigns and ultimately doing less of what I enjoyed most. Therefore, I decided to start Crooks & Kings Studios.

About Crooks & Kings Studios
Crooks & Kings Studios began as a passion project where the client is always King (or Queen). Initially, I was capturing photos and videos for friends, family, and coworkers at weddings, birthdays, and corporate functions. Then it led into commercial products, ads, interviews, professional headshots, properties and more.
Now to maintain clarity, quality, and efficiency we specialize in timeless Photo & Film for Brands, Events, and Professionals. I understand that some of the most important moments in life and business similarly must be captured. My mission is to make a positive impact in all my clients lives while employing those I care for by doing what I love with them at my side.
About the Team
Makayla Merritt
Raised a true panhandle Floridian, Makayla boasts a degree in Finance from SNHU as she works full time for Truist. Being a Commercial Client Specialist, Makayla knows how to identify client needs, budget, and how to get you the best bang for your buck.
Doubling as a second photographer and content professional, Makayla is an integral piece in Crooks & Kings Studios. Makayla’s goal is to help grow Crooks & Kings Studios until she can work in it full time, one client, one photo, and one video at a time.
Hunter and Makayla have been together since 2018 and currently live in central Florida with their three dogs.

Aaron Horowitz
After successfully managing some of the largest dealerships in the automotive industry for over a decade, Aaron achieved the role of Property Manager & Sim Technician at a small simulation company here in Orlando.
Outside the shop and office, Aaron found passion in scenic photography. Now he leads in Crooks & Kings Photography working diligently to help extend our capabilities, client portfolio, and team size.
